SUSTAINABILITY

We are heirs to our actions.
Programa Porta Aberta

Aimed at straightening the relationship with the surrounding community, Rudolph Usinados (Machining Company) has been sponsoring the Porta Aberta (Open Door) program since 2002.

On several occasions each year, the company welcomes the Employees families, residents, and students from educational institutions in Timbó and the surrounding region, as well as other interested parties. During their visit, people are given the opportunity to learn more about Rudolph, its practices, values, physical and organizational structures. The program includes lectures given by the Employees themselves, introducing others to the type of work they perform, the projects, social welfare activities, and later, a visit to get to know the company sectors. Students from the educational institutions get the opportunity to improve their knowledge on processes related to their fields of study.

The family Porta Aberta (Open Door) program provides a different working day, where the Employee greets their family members and accompanies them during the course of their visit, which is concluded with an informal get together with snacks and refreshments. If you are interested in getting to know Rudolph, and participating in the Porta Aberta (Open Door) program, please contact us.

Ação Voluntária SEMEAR

The SEMEAR (SOWING) Voluntary Initiative seeks to give opportunities and to promote the integration of people through good practices, helping them to solve social problems, and improving the quality of life of the community at large. The Employees and their families work as volunteers, because they believe that each action will impact the future of the people who benefit from this initiative. These actions are sponsored by donations, sponsorships, and benefits.

A Volunteer is the citizen who, motivated by participative and solidarity actions, freely donates his/her time, work and talent in a spontaneous manner and without any payment, towards social and community welfare causes.

The volunteer reinforces solidarity and contributes to making a more humane society with more opportunities.

We are doing what we believe in. Rudolph´s Volunteers are sharing their Values with the Community. This is because, we understand that our commitment is based on our beliefs and, by putting them into practice. It begins with our immediate surroundings. We are much more responsible to those immediately around us and to those within arm’s reach.

We are the heirs of our actions!

Rudolph is actively involved in some extremely important Social Projects for our society. We have set aside 10% of our net annual profits as a way to sponsor and implement these projects.
Projeto CERENE

The Nova Esperança Rehab Center – CERENE is one of our sponsored projects, a non-profit civil association and private initiative, it was awarded the Social Welfare Benefit Entity Certificate – CEAS (philanthropic), used as a psycho-social model of a Therapeutic Community for the treatment of alcohol/drug addicts and the prevention of these. The activities that have been developed are based upon the theory of teacher-learning processes that consider that a human being can be changed. Since it was set up in May 1989, it has treated over 8,000 alcohol/drug users. Throughout its 23 years of active service, CERENE has been awarded several prizes and local and national recognition, the most recent award was in: 2009 – Moção de Aplauso (Motion of Applause) awarded by the Santa Catarina Legislative Branch for its actions in fighting against crack users, 2010 – Successful Entrepreneur Merit Award – in the Rehab Center segment.

Projeto ABRAPI

We support the work of educating the general public with regards to taxation. ABRAPI – BRAZILIAN ASSOCIATION OF TAX PAYERS, is a non-profit entity whose mission is to defend the legitimate interests of the entire Brazilian productive class, represented by the taxpayers, whether they are corporate or private. The main principals governing their actions, however, are that they seek results, and are focused on all and any productive citizen in this country.

This association, based in the town of Blumenau, Santa Catarina State, completely reformulated their Statutes, inspired by a similar entity in the Federal Republic of Germany, named "Bund der Steuerzahler", the German Union for Tax Payers (www.steuerzahler.de), a model started in 1949 and which nowadays has 430 thousand companies and associated entities, and has been established in 29 (twenty-nine) other countries. www.abrapi.org.br

Projeto BAJA

Rudolph supports the mechanical engineering school at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, through the BAJA project. In the northwestern region of Mexico, separating the Pacific Ocean from the Gulf of California, is the Peninsula of Baja California (or Lower California). In this region, adventurers from all over the world have been meeting in autumn since 1967, to cross the 1340km of desert in vehicles adapted to face all kinds of desert terrain in a competition named Baja 1000. These heavy-duty vehicles are designed to face the hardships of all types of terrain and for this reason they were nicknamed the “Bajas”.

It was through the influence of this spirit of adventure that the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) created, in 1976, an academic category known today as Baja SAE, in which engineering students are required to build off-road prototypes to be tested under severe operating conditions, bringing into the university context the real challenges of building an all terrain vehicle. www.baja.ufsc.br

Projeto CETISA

CETISA – “Centro Educacional Timbó S/A” (Timbó Educational Center). An elementary and middle school, this educational institution has its equity divided into shares. Therefore, each shareholder’s participation is based on his/her ownership of the shares of the school, and that way is formally linked to the role of building our society.

We have adopted a teaching method based on the development of projects democratically chosen by each classroom. The students become the co-authors of their learning, taking part in the planning of activities carried out in the classroom and giving them the opportunity to practice good citizenship, respecting the ideas of each member of the group.

Based on the questions on the chosen theme, which helps to delimit the problem, followed by research on the topic, the scientific reasoning is developed at all stages, raising hypothesis, development, verification and then concluding with the answers to the previously raised questions. An innovative educational proposal which justifies the non-use of school textbooks. www.cetisa.com.br
